Introducing Our Family
If you stopped by our family property on a warm summer day you might easily find our children splashing at the river’s edge, canoeing, tending to heritage livestock, climbing trees, harvesting produce, exercising their beloved Havanese or playing with our puppies.
Every day is an adventure of connection at Bramble Field. We value the natural bond between humans, animals, and nature, and recognize we thrive best when living in harmony together.
We are Anne and Terry Meyer, and we work as a team in the ethical breeding and nurturing of Registered Havanese dogs. Our eleven children (ages 2-19) are an essential part of the launch of each puppy, playing with them and handling them from birth. The result is a puppy comfortably in contact with all ages of children and ready to thrive in your family situation. We nurture and establish beautiful Havanese pups for other families who value the simple things in life: love, connection, and joy together.
Over decades of animal husbandry, dog breeding and training, we have grown in our passion for Havanese dogs specifically, because we know the incredible way they have benefitted and enriched our own family.
Importance of the Breeder
We have decades of canine experience, in the show ring of agility, obedience, “mega Mutt” shows; therapy handling in hospitals, group homes, nursing homes, schools, rescue; and rehabilitation of abused dogs.
The early weeks when pups are with their breeder is a critical period of importance for early imprinting, socializing & development. Coaching this time with experience and intention greatly affects the owners’ future ability to meet training goals, develop temperament and tune character.
We place great effort in providing our pups with balanced experiences making them very well-socialized, teachable, and ready to become part of their new family.
The breeders efforts in early socialization and care is the springboard for your ability to integrate a pup smoothly into your life. The breeder’s part is critical and your part is critical, and together this is how great canine companions are raised.
Natural Setting
We are situated on 14 acres near Mount Forest, Ontario, with 1200’ fronting the Saugeen River, surrounded by forest and fields.
Our Havanese have ample opportunity to enjoy on and off leash exercise daily. Acres of field and woods, quiet country roads for on-lead connection, 1/4 acer fenced grass training ring, 1 acer fenced grass play/adjility yard, 2500sq foot soft gravel safety yard, two 15×30 breeding areas. Space and exercise is vital, even for little dogs. Even more so when living in a pack of working companions with changing dynamics. Breeding pairs deserve to feel a sense of their own domain and Mamas to feel safe to devote their attentions and energy to raising pups.
We enjoy taking our Havanese hiking and camping, they are great companions on our excursion days exploring the Bruce trail and Provincial parks. We find great value and enjoyment with clicker training, tricks and agility, Daily exercise, connection, fresh air and sunshine contribute to their vitality and health.
Relational Setting
At Bramble Field, each pup is treasured and receives individual care in every area.
Our Dames and Sires enjoy the benefits of engaged family life; each dog is walked on a lead daily to keep manners tuned up and connection strong. Grooming and a daily physical check before training are looked forward too by each dog. Joining in on family games night or a quiet time by the fire all honor the mentile, emotional & physical needs our canine companions have.
The unique exposure that our pups have to children and daily family life from their very first days is our signature work. Our children are skilled, canine savvy and aware of providing balance and connection to each pup. We are passionate about canine psychology, early puppy socialization and ethical lives for working Sires and Dames.
