Why Havanese?

Why Havanese?

The Havanese confirmation, strong health, charm and peaceable character are just a few qualities that we love about this whimsical, fun-loving breed.

Havanese are non-shedding, hypoallergenic and scent free – no wet dog smell!

They are the only small breed with the character trait for loving children, which is what they were originally actually bred for: to be companions to high-society’s children in Cuba and then around the world.

Havanese are athletically hardy, love winter snow, enjoy swimming, hiking, boating, camping, and agility. Having experience with large breeds such as Great Danes and Newfoundland, we describe Havanese as having the hardiness of a large dog in a little dog’s body. The low to medium energy level makes this breed manageable to keep balanced.

Many children have been blessed with the companionship this breed offers, including the seven children of famous author, Charles Dickens, who were rarely seen without their loyal Havanese, Tiny Tim

Having a little friend to care for can aid in emotional balance, a sense of purpose, value, responsibility, and confidence-building. Due to the Havanese’s amiable temperament, small size and hardiness, children can do all of the hands-on work under your tutoring, providing a great opportunity for both parent and child in mentoring and relationship-building.
